We have a great opportunity for Infection Control RNs. Looking at a March/April start date depending on background and credentialing clearance. $500 travel allowance.
Certification RequirementsBLS;
Certified Infection Control Preventionist (CIC) credential
Division of Quality Management – Infection Control requires 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend coverage to meet Infection Control needs of the service unit. Minimum 3 years of experience related to Infection Prevention required.
Statement of DutiesProvides leadership in the ongoing review and development of clinical practice in compliance with infection control regulations, functioning as an expert clinician and role model. Uses relevant research findings in infection control services by initiating, conducting, and disseminating locally based research in infection prevention practices, treatments, and disease management. Adapts and applies related scientific research to infection control and prevention services and management.
Monitors and documents surveillance/performance improvement activities to ensure compliance with standards through regular scheduled and impromptu rounds, in addition to tracer rounds, to ensure staff are up-to-date and compliant with infection prevention issues, observe aseptic techniques/standard precautions, and check quality control programs.
Collaborates with other departments on hospital performance improvement activities; maintains records, data, and correspondence pertinent to the Performance Improvement and Infection Control programs; develops and maintains spreadsheets and database applications. Analyzes surveillance data for deviation from expected baseline and initiates appropriate action to protect patients or employees. Assures the infection control program complies with TJC, CMS, OSHA, CDC, IHS, and GSU standards and policies.
Conducts surveillance of patients to determine infection incidence, identify hospital- and community-acquired infections, and identify persons at high risk. Participates in clinical/patient rounds and completes medical record reviews as needed. Works with unit nurses on follow-up of hospital-acquired infections.
