Intern, Technical Graduate – Year Round – AGT Accelerator Operations, Onsite
We are seeking a proactive, detail‑oriented intern to support and improve product, process, and system quality across our operations.
Responsibilities- Assist in supporting and improving product, process, and system quality.
- Work closely with engineering, operations, and safety personnel to ensure compliance with SNL safety and work‑planning quality standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the department’s Quality Assurance Plan, operational procedures, and training requirements.
- Assist with performing hazard and risk assessments.
- Assist with operational issues by researching and analyzing data using statistical analysis as needed.
- Participate in team‑based process improvement and continuous safety culture.
- Earned bachelor’s degree.
- Currently enrolled full‑time in a related accredited graduate program.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0.
- Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance requiring U.S. citizenship.
- Major in Quality Engineering.
- Experience with coding.
- Experience with statistical analysis.
- Experience with causal analysis.
- Experience with FMEA.
- Technical proficiency in Python.

Department OverviewThe Above Ground Testing (AGT) Accelerator Operations (1332) department operates the Saturn, HERMES III, and SPHINX pulsed power accelerators, enabling applied research into radiation effects on materials and electronics. The department also conducts pulsed power research and development to improve source fidelity, output, fluence, reliability, and reproducibility, supporting the NNSA Stockpile Stewardship Program.
Security ClearanceApplicants must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
