• The Bookkeeper will oversee the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate bookkeeping The role involves maintaining timekeeping records, using Sage 50 accounting software, and supporting the company’s overall financial health.

Responsibilities:

• Bookkeeping & Financial Reporting:
• Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Reconcile bank statements and prepare monthly financial statements for management review.
• Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all financial transactions.
• Payroll Management:
• Oversee weekly payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate payment to employees.
• Handle payroll taxes, deductions, and with holdings, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Manage payroll adjustments, and benefits.
• Prevailing Wage Compliance:
• Administer and ensure compliance with prevailing wage laws for government or public works projects.
• Maintain detailed records and reports required for prevailing wage certifications.
• Prepare certified payroll reports for submission to regulatory agencies.
• Timekeeping & Attendance:
• Manage timekeeping systems, ensuring that employee hours are accurately tracked and reported.
• Monitor and resolve any discrepancies in employee hours, overtime, or job costing.
• Manage and timekeeping of employee vacations hours and sick pay
• Sage 50 Management:
• Utilize Sage 50 accounting software for all bookkeeping and payroll functions.
• Generate financial reports, manage budgets, and provide data analysis for informed decision-making.
• Compliance & Auditing:
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, labor laws, and construction industry-specific financial regulations.
• Assist in financial audits, both internal and external, and ensure that all financial practices adhere to regulatory standards.
• Compliance with DOT regulations, manage and research insurance policy, premiums and tracking.
• Budgeting & Cost Management:
• Support management with budget forecasting and monitoring project costs.
• Assist in preparing and managing budgets for construction projects.
• Vendor & Subcontractor Payments:
• Review and process vendor invoices, ensuring timely payment and proper job cost allocation.
• Monitor subcontractor payment applications and ensure compliance with lien waivers and contract terms.
• Collaboration & Bilingual Communication:
• Work closely with project managers, leadership/ownership, and other departments to ensure financial and operational efficiency.
• Effectively communicate with both English and Spanish-speaking employees and vendors, providing financial guidance as needed.

Qualifications:

• Degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
• 3-5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in construction.
• Proficiency in Sage 50 accounting software.
• Strong understanding of prevailing wage laws and payroll compliance.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Experience in timekeeping and job cost accounting is a plus.

Preferred but not required:

• Knowledge of human resources management practices and procedures
• Knowledge of business and management principles
• Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and requirements
• Experience with and knowledge of building/planning departments
• Bilingual Spanish
