- Pay or shift range: $23 USD to $27 USD

Position Overview
The Cathode Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in the Coater Process Team. This position is responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of the large area coater system and its supporting infrastructure. Key responsibilities include servicing coater lids, vacuum-critical components, AC/DC power supplies, PLC control systems, and water-cooling systems. The technician works primarily with rotary or planar cathodes used in the magnetron-assisted Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) process.
The cathode maintenance technician is in the coater process department and reports directly to the cathode maintenance supervisor, with additional support and guidance from the coater process manager.
This role requires strong technical aptitude, safety awareness, and the ability to work independently as well as in cross-functional teams. The technician will partner closely with the process and maintenance teams to support equipment reliability and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs on large-area coater and associated systems (vacuum, power, cooling, control).
- Ensure safe and proper use of industrial and mechanical tools.
- Execute detailed preventive maintenance procedures, including scheduled maintenance days requiring 12+ hour shifts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues with minimal supervision.
- Assist with general plant equipment maintenance as needed.
- Generate maintenance reports and documentation using basic office software.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet operational goals and deadlines.
Required Qualifications

- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- One of the following:
- Minimum 4 years’ experience as a maintenance technician in an industrial or production environment, OR
- 2-year Technical Degree/Certification in Engineering, Science, Math, Vacuum Systems, or related field
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, and verbal communication).
- Capable of maneuvering heavy parts and materials, with or without assistance.
- Ability to use hand tools and material handling equipment safely.
