Senior Project Accountant

Tarvos Talent growing and well-established construction organization is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join its finance team in Galveston. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys partnering with operations, owning project financials, and making a direct impact on project success.

In this role, you'll work closely with project managers and executive leadership to oversee the financial performance of large-scale construction projects from start to finish. You'll have visibility into project profitability, budgeting, forecasting, contract compliance, and revenue recognition while helping strengthen financial processes and controls across the organization.

• Manage the financial accounting for assigned construction projects, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, billing, and project reporting.
• Prepare owner billings/draw requests and monitor collections.
• Review subcontractor and vendor invoices for contract compliance and budget accuracy.
• Track project costs, budgets, revenue, profitability, and forecast financial performance.
• Support month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and contract requirements.
• Maintain project documentation and financial records.
• Partner with project managers and operations to provide financial insights and resolve project-related accounting issues.
• Assist with audit preparation, process improvements, and ad‑hoc financial analysis.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience in a project-based, construction, engineering, or government contracting environment

• Strong understanding of project accounting principles and revenue recognition.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUPs/VLOOKUPs, and financial analysis.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across finance and operations.
• Experience with CMiC, Textura, or similar construction accounting software is highly preferred.
• Experience supporting audits and documenting accounting processes is a plus.
