Galveston ISD - Reading and Social Studies Coach Description/Notes:

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

  • Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
  • Ability to interpret data and evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
  • Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

  • 5 years teaching experience in subject area assigned
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with assigned classroom teachers to establish realistic and measurable objectives related to both the teacher’s individual professional development and student learning.
  • Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of teacher instructional skills through coaching and collaborative problem solving.
  • Model effective instructional strategies with students in classroom.
  • Conduct classroom visitations and monitor curriculum implementation through effective coaching methods.
  • Plan and provide appropriate staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff.
  • Provides feedback to campus and district personnel on the effective implementation of researched based high yield instructional strategies with follow up support to ensure proper implementation of best practices.
  • Work with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies.
  • Develop curricular or behavioral support materials as needed.
  • Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in area assigned.
  • Plans and implements data-based interventions to improve instruction.
  • Professional Growth and Development
    • Engage in self-initiated professional growth activities to improve coaching effectiveness
    • Conduct oneself in a professional and ethical manner
    • Introducing and assisting teachers with the implementation of high-quality instructional resources
    • Model teach whole/small groups to improve student performance in mathematics/science
    • Facilitate the coordination of interventions for student growth in mathematics/science
  • Other
    • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
    • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
    • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
    • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree from an accredited university
    • Valid Texas teaching certificate
    • Three years of instructional support experience, preferred
    Salary Range:

    $64,818 - $76,257
