The Department of Epidemiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) invites applications for an open‑rank (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor) tenure‑track faculty position. We seek an accomplished scientist with a strong record of scholarly excellence, a collaborative research agenda, and a commitment to teaching and mentoring the next generation of public health leaders.
Qualifications- PhD, MD, DrPH, or equivalent degree in epidemiology or an aligned field.
- Advanced methodological expertise in the analysis of complex population or health‑care data, causal inference methods, or the use of innovative data sources such as social media and digital trace data.
- Track record of funded research as PI or Co‑I consistent with the desired rank.
- Demonstrated excellence in peer‑reviewed publications.
- Proven ability to teach and mentor graduate students and trainees at a level consistent with rank.
- Research agenda that aligns with the department’s strengths in chronic disease epidemiology, social epidemiology/demography, and infectious disease epidemiology.
- Maintain an active, externally funded research program appropriate to rank and pursue new funding opportunities.
- Participate in collaborative, multidisciplinary grant activities and serve on departmental committees.
- Contribute to the Department of Epidemiology’s teaching mission and provide high‑quality mentorship to graduate students and trainees.
- Actively engage with UTMB’s Center for Health and Clinical Outcomes Research (H‑COR), contributing methodological, data‑analytics, and grant‑proposal expertise.
- Promote interdisciplinary research and expand the department’s national reputation.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position offers the opportunity to work within a vibrant, collaborative research environment and to contribute to innovative outcomes research through H‑COR.
