** General Description
** The purpose of this class is responsible for the enforcement of local, state and federal laws.
** Duties and Responsibilities
**** The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class.  Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
*** Receives, evaluates, prioritizes and initiates responses to requests for information and services, including emergency services.
* Accesses, retrieves, disseminates, and protects confidential law enforcement related data from a variety of protected local, state and federal databases.
* Enters critical and confidential law enforcement data into TCIC and NCIC databases.
* Assists in the training of new personnel.
* Assists in the maintenance of the communications center.
* Performs related work as assigned.
** Minimum

Education and Experience Requirements:

*** Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent.
* Requires completion of one-year probation.
** Physical Demands/Work Environment:
*** Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
** Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
* The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table.

The work is typically performed in a communications center answering a high volume of incoming telephone and radio calls.

Emergency Preparedness Tier Level:  1
** Special Certifications and Licenses:
** Must obtain Telecommunicator Basic Proficiency Certificate issued by the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement (TCOLE).
