Health Educator
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, healthcare, medical discipline, or related degree and seven (7) years of experience in simulation education/training environment or as a health educator specialist.
- Master’s degree in education, healthcare, medical discipline, or related degree and five (5) years of experience in simulation education/training environment or as a health educator specialist.
Assists HEC Director of Simulation and HEC Assistant Director of Human Simulation with planning, scheduling, execution, and oversight of human simulation activities. Provides mentorship and training for current and new HEC employees. Communicates with faculty, course representatives, standardized patients (SP), Teaching Assistants (TA), and staff. Assists with technical, professional, and logistical requirements for all activities involving education and training in the simulated environment.

Required for Associate Director and above job descriptions.
- Supervises, trains, and mentors current and new staff members.
- Assigns case(s) and point person for each activity.
- Disseminates pertinent activity information to staff.
- Assists Standardized Patient (SP) Center staff with activity preparations, recruitment, training, management, and evaluations.
- Provides oversight and assists health educator specialists with quality assurance processes associated with SP/TA performance.
- Observes SP Center Staff during training sessions.
- Provides feedback to health educator specialists aimed at improving performance.
- Works with HEC Assistant Director of Human Simulation, faculty, and course representatives to design, plan, prepare, conduct, and evaluate human simulation activities.
- Assists with activity planning including scheduling of SP Center activities, reviewing activity requests, and developing activity documents and schedules.
- Write and revises scripts, door signs, and other activity documents.
- Assists with technical and logistical requirements associated with human simulation activities.
- Maintains effective communications with faculty and course representatives associated with human simulation activities as well as SP, TA, and staff.
- Analyzes historical data and activity logistics for planning and budgeting purposes.
- Assists with development and revisal of operational guidelines.
- Maintains and creates SP Center electronic files/platforms
- Oversee SP/TA recruitment and training.
- Documents SPs’/TAs’ performance during trainings and activities.
- Provides feedback to SPs/TAs aimed at improving performance.
- Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
- Performs related duties as required.
