Summary:

Maintain an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility for students, staff, and the public. Primary duties are to clean public areas, classrooms, offices, and restrooms to prepare them for use the next day.

All Areas - Daily

• Empty and replace liners as needed in waste containers
• Disinfect waste containers a minimum of once a week
• Remove all trash to collection point
• Dust, clean with germicidal disinfectant all counters, desks, and sinks and refill dispensers as needed
• Dust and spot clean all surfaces at eye level and below
• Vacuum and spot clean all carpeted floor areas
• Sweep floor with treated dust mop
• Spot mop with a neutral cleaner on all hard surface floors
• Vacuum all entrance mats
• Spot clean walls as needed
• Dust windowsills as needed
• Spot clean windows as needed
• Turn off all lights
• Shut and lock all doors which were locked upon entering
• Inspect building and grounds for trash and debris

All Areas – Weekly

• Clean entrance glass doors
• Clean and disinfect all drinking fountains
• Clean and disinfect all glass/frames, mirrors, switch covers, fixtures, all parts of the doors/frames, and bright work
• Damp mop ceramic tile floors with tile and grout solution
• Clean interior and exterior of microwave ovens in kitchen, lunchroom, and teacher’s lounges

All Areas – Monthly

• Dust window blinds and windowsills
• Clean air ducts, return air grates, and filter grates

Restrooms – Daily

• Sweep and damp mop restroom floors with germicidal disinfectant
• Clean all surfaces of basins, bowls, and urinals
• Wash and disinfect both sides of toilet seats with germicidal disinfectant
• Wipe down partitions, including hinges and hardware
• Clean and refill soap dispensers, toilet paper, and paper towels
• Empty waste paper and receptacles (replace liners where necessary)
• Clean and disinfect all glass/frames, mirrors, switch covers, fixtures, all parts of the doors/frames, and bright work
• Spot clean restroom walls

Janitor’s Closets – Daily

• Leave area clean and organized
• Sweep floors
• Clean janitor’s sink
• Wipe down electrical cords
• Keep shelves dusted and organized
• Keep walls clean, wipe down as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• No supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of custodial supplies, cleaning methods and techniques
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work independently under limited supervision

Experience:

• Job related experience is preferred

Salary: $11.56 to $16.65
