Responsibilities
  • Performs project management specialist work for Department projects. Work includes coordinating the development, implementation, maintenance, and support of the Critical Path Method (CPM) for Department projects, and providing support for resource leveling, priority development, project analysis, reporting, and training.
  • Works directly with the project manager to help define the project’s goals and objectives.
  • Work requires extensive contact with department staff, governmental agencies, and private entities.
  • Employee at this level performs work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
  • Assists in developing and supporting Standard Operating Procedures for developing, maintaining, and archiving project schedules in accordance with document retention policies.
  • Assists in the development, publishing and delivery of technical training and guidance to project personnel on scheduling and resourcing of projects.
  • Coordinates Requests for Proposals submitted by interested contractors for each job within the project.
  • Develops and presents budget/cost summaries to the project managers and other employers.
  • Plans, develops, maintains, and makes recommendations concerning detailed project schedules and facilitates on-time completion of projects with the optimal level of resources available.
  • Supports the project management team and aides with the maintenance of timely and effective change management processes, procedures, and systems.
  • Monitors and reviews the work of others to ensure project plans and schedules include the entire scope of work, management requirements, schedule hierarchy, division of responsibility, schedule review and approval requirements.
  • Reviews project activities for compliance with procedures and standards; ensures adherence to recommended best practices and quality standards utilizing the Critical Path Method (CPM).
  • Coordinates with others to develop, monitor and update integrated project plans and schedules to ensure projects are executed in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
