Pay Rate: $70.00 per hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide comprehensive primary care in a structured correctional healthcare environment. This position involves evaluating and treating acute and chronic conditions, managing ongoing patient care, conducting same-day medical evaluations, and collaborating with physicians, nursing staff, and facility personnel.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to provide high-quality care in a secure and structured setting.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Nursing
- At least 1 year of primary care experience
- At least 1 year of care management experience
- At least 1 year of experience in one or more of the following:
- Correctional care
- Correctional medicine
- Valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration
- Current licensure/certification as one of the following:
- Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
- Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP)
- Nurse Practitioner (NP)
- Current certification in one or more of the following:
- American Red Cross Basic Life Support (ARC BLS)
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA ACLS)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
- Provide sick-call coverage and same-day medical evaluations
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans
- Manage ongoing care and monitor patient progress
- Educate patients regarding medications, disease management, preventive healthcare, and healthy lifestyle practices
- Review patient histories, clinical findings, and diagnostic results to support appropriate treatment decisions
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and facility staff to coordinate patient care
- Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions or referrals
- Follow established clinical, regulatory, safety, and correctional healthcare standards
- Promote patient safety, continuity of care, and positive health outcomes

Travel
- Travel stipend available for providers traveling more than 50 miles from their primary residence
