Job Description PICU nurses provide emergency intensive care to critically ill pediatric burn patients. In this position, you will have the unique opportunity to help our patients through their journey from the moment the child is wheeled through the door through the time the child leaves to go home. Many of our patients return for follow up care as they grow.

This will give you an opportunity as a nurse to see your great work shine through the child as they grow older.

Hours:

This full-time position will work 36 hours weekly on day shift.

Key Responsibilities:

Assesses comprehensive data including physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs and interprets assessment information to derive the diagnosis.

Involves patient, family and health care team members in formulating a culturally appropriate individualized plan of care and identifies expected outcomes based on nursing assessment and diagnosis.

Implements the plan of care in partnership with the patient, family and health care team members.

Utilizes teaching strategies appropriate to the individual patient's condition and learning needs.

Evaluates the patient/family's understanding of and response to the plan of care.

Required Qualifications:

BSN degree or in progress

Texas RN license

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association Two years’ acute care hospital experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous ICU, PACU or NICU experience

Pediatric experience

Bilingual English/Spanish Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
