Research Associate I
A Research Associate I position is open at the laboratory of Sanjeev K. Sahni, PhD /Abha Sahni, PhD, in the Department of Pathology at UTMB Galveston. Our research program is focused on investigating different aspects of endothelial pathobiology in the context of host-pathogen interactions using bacteria belonging to Rickettsia species.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in basic science or equivalent and no experience required.
Job Duties:
- The candidate will perform standard laboratory work, including experiments and assays, under direct supervision and technical directions from the PI and senior laboratory personnel.
- Planning and performance of different molecular and/or biochemical end-point analyses on biological samples arising from different experiments.
- Compilation and tabulation of results or data for downstream analysis.
- Maintaining laboratory records and equipment and ensuring compliance with the institutional, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in basic biology research is not required, but exposure to functioning of a research laboratory would be preferred.

Salary Range:
Actual salary commensurate with experience.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm and as needed on occasion.
