Job Opportunity

The goal of the Ward lab is to dissect the global role of regulatory elements, including those derived from TEs, in directing gene expression in healthy, stressed and disease states in cardiovascular disease-relevant cell types. We use a variety of functional genomics and induced pluripotent stem cell technology-based approaches to tackle this problem.

The three areas we are currently investigating are:

• Gene regulatory dynamics during differentiation to cardiovascular cell types
• Robustness of gene regulatory processes in response to perturbation
• Impact of inter-individual variation on cardiovascular disease-relevant phenotypes

Job Description:

Performs varying standardized laboratory assignments and experiments.

Specific Job Related Duties

• Under direct supervision, performs standard research assignments involving a series of related operations.
• Sets up and conducts standard research experiments following detailed technical instructions.
• Prepares biological assays and conducts basic quantitative and qualitative analysis.
• Maintains records of all tests performed and data collected.
• Assists in the compilation and tabulation of data and provides preliminary analysis.
• Assembles, calibrates, operates and makes minor modifications to a variety of laboratory equipment as defined by appropriate guidelines.
• Adheres to internal controls established for department.
• Performs related duties as required.

Salary Range: $39,120 - $58,680; commensurate with experience.
