Postdoctoral Fellow, Neurology

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D., M.D. or Doctoral equivalent in any field. Scientific research experience.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The postdoctoral fellow will conduct, report and present research in his/her field of study under the supervision of a faculty mentor. This is a training position and is not expected to be a permanent position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Work on the continuation of NIH- and foundations-funded projects in Dr. Kayed's lab focusing on Neurodegenerative tauopathies.

* Investigate the biochemistry and cellular mechanisms for the formation and toxicity in protein aggregates.

* Apply biochemical, biophysical, immunological, molecular methods to characterize amyloidogenic proteins and aggregates polymorphs

* Investigate the diversity of the brain-derived oligomeric amyloid polymorphs in tau aggregation and the mechanism of their toxicity and spreading in cell models, primary cultures, and animal models

* Perform experiments, analyze data and results, prepare figures, write manuscripts for publication, and supervise other lab members, as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* Previous research experience in the protein biochemistry, cell biology and neuroscience.
