Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program Position

This position is designed for post-baccalaureate individuals participating in a UTMB post-baccalaureate research education program with major responsibilities of research and academic work.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in science or related field

Job Duties:

  • Learns and masters basic laboratory techniques taught in a classroom-setting or in a research laboratory to gain proficiency for performing laboratory or computational research
  • Works with research faculty to define a research plan and project and carries out research on defined project(s);
    Reports results of the research in written and verbal reports
  • Performs research work which may comprise of laboratory work or computational/data-based work under the direction of responsible faculty
  • Attends any and all scheduled meetings with exceptions for excused absences, and participates in activities that include individual development planning and writing assignments
  • Attends scheduled meetings with mentoring team members including graduate students and postdoctoral members
  • Student tutoring and academic skills building as related to professional training
  • Literature and database research as needed for the research
  • Adheres to all policies and regulations of UTMB
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure
  • Performs related duties as required to fulfill personal academic requirements

Salary Range:
Commensurate with experience

Working Environment/Equipment:
Classroom, library, computer facility, laboratory and/or clinical environments.

May be exposed to such occupational hazards found in a biomedical research facility or clinical environment such as communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, ionizing & non-ionizing radiation, hazardous medications and disoriented or combative patients or others.
