Responsibilities

• Prepare bakery and deli items per customer requests using proper equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products and correct portions to prevent shrink.
• Recommend products to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to guidelines.
• Follow food safety and temperature logs, and cook according to instructions.
• Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Properly package, label, and inventory ingredients and products.
• Check product quality, review 'sell by' dates, and take appropriate actions.
• Maintain store layout knowledge and locate products for customers.
• Stay current with store promotions and product knowledge.
• Maintain inventory and stock levels, noting discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining logs.
• Create a welcoming environment for customers and promote trust among staff.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs needed.
• Report accidents and unsafe conditions.
• Work effectively in a high-paced environment, managing conflicts appropriately.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
• Support customers with special needs, including minors and seniors.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math knowledge
• Ability to obtain a food handler's permit after employment
