Job Summary

SSC is hiring immediately for a full‑time Electrician Senior position.

• Location: TAMU – 1001 Texas Clipper Road, Galveston, TX 77554. Openings at other locations within the school district are available.

• Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Full and part‑time positions available with flexibility to meet needs).
• Requirement: Prior journeyman electrician experience and at least 3 years of electrical experience are required.
• Pay: $34.50 to $38.50 per hour.

• Update work statuses and document tasks completed in the CMMS using a mobile device.
• Read blueprints and diagrams, determine materials needed, estimate time and material costs on installations, and request supplies to ensure timely availability.
• Construct, finish, install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and related facilities using power and hand tools and other necessary equipment.
• Install EMT, rigid, plastic‑bond, and steatite conduit.
• Troubleshoot all electrical systems.
• Locate cables ranging from low to high voltage throughout campus for contractors.
• Clean, lubricate, service, repair, or diagnose malfunctions of electrical systems.
• Help determine manpower, material needs, and deadlines for jobs or projects.
• Respond to emergency problems and make emergency repairs as needed.
• Maintain logs, perform rounds, and complete tests and inspections.
• Recommend modifications or improvements to preventive maintenance systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
• Working knowledge of local, state, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Journeyman Electrical License.
• Experience working with blueprints, specifications, or models to learn or plan work layouts, making routine computations as needed.
• Rudimentary ability to use hand‑operated construction equipment.
• Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and kneel, bend, and stoop for extended periods of time.

• Exposure to elevated heat, noise, dust, dirt, and areas requiring infection control.
• Must meet daily deadlines and work all hours, including weekends and nights, as necessary to maintain facility safety.
