The marine electrician will be responsible for the installation and repairs of wiring, fixtures, and equipment for all electrical services aboard vessels, facilities, and shipyard facilities. The marine electrician will be responsible for the diagnosis and repair of 3 phase power generation systems including voltage regulation, synchronization, and load share equipment. The marine electrician will be responsible for following blueprints and wiring diagrams for and installation of conduit to bulkheads with brackets and screws using hand tools, threads, and wires through the conduit to terminals, such as connection boxes, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, and switch panels.
The marine electrician will also strip insulation from wire ends and solders ends to terminals, using stripping pliers and soldering iron. The marine electrician will diagnose and repair 3-phase motors, motor controllers, and power distribution panels. Other duties will include connecting power-supply circuits to radio, radar, steering systems, variable frequency drives, and other electronic equipment. The marine electrician will also test electrical characteristics, such as voltage, resistance, and phase angle, in circuits, using voltmeters, ohmmeters, and phase rotation indicators.
The marine electrician may also construct instrument panels, using hand tools, rulers, dividers, and power drills per specifications.

Job Responsibilities, Required Knowledge, Skills

- Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance Conducts insulation resistance measurements of electrical cables to determine condition and effects repairs or replacements as required

- Installs conduit and wiring to bulkheads with brackets and screws, using hand tools, and threads wires through the conduit to terminals, for example, connection boxes, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, and switch panels
- Maintains adequate inventories of electrical spare parts and requisitions replacements as required
- May also construct instrument panels, using hand tools, rulers, dividers, and power drills, following specifications
- Maintains electrical system maintenance histories notating the date, and extent of repairs and or alterations
- Must be a team player and support the mission, vision, and goals of G&H Towing and the department
- Performs maintenance and repair of generators, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, electrical motors, distribution panels, alarm and lighting circuits
- Must be service-oriented and customer-centric to all internal and external customers
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, test resolutions, and escalate common issues
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication, organizational, analytical, time management, problem-solving, and planning skills
- Strips insulation from wire ends and solders ends to terminals, using stripping pliers and soldering iron; connects power-supply circuits to radio, radar, sonar, fire control, and other electronic equipment
- Supervises and participates in the installation and or alteration of electrical systems
- Tests electrical characteristics, for example, voltage, resistance, and phase angle, in circuits, using voltmeters, ohmmeters, and phase rotation indicators
- Troubleshoots electrical equipment and circuits using appropriate test equipment to detect and effect required maintenance, repairs, or replacement requirements
- Understanding the principles of alternating current, direct current, two-phase, three-phase, and floating ground systems
- A High school diploma or GED is required; continued education is preferred; extensive experience may be considered in lieu of education
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Requires proficiency with computer hardware and software to include Microsoft Office applications, using a computer with a keyboard and mouse, navigation with a web browser, checking and sending email, and use of internet search engines
- Three (3) years of experience preferred
- Requires an active and valid driver's license
