JOB SUMMARY:
- The marine electrician will be responsible for the installation and repairs of wiring, fixtures, and equipment for all electrical services aboard vessels, facilities, and shipyard facilities.
- The marine electrician will be responsible for the diagnosis and repair of 3 phase power generation systems including voltage regulation, synchronization, and load share equipment.
- The marine electrician will be responsible for following blueprints and wiring diagrams for and installation of conduit to bulkheads with brackets and screws using hand tools, threads, and wires through the conduit to terminals, such as connection boxes, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, and switch panels.
- The marine electrician will also strip insulation from wire ends and solders ends to terminals, using stripping pliers and soldering iron.
- The marine electrician will diagnose and repair 3-phase motors, motor controllers, and power distribution panels.
- Other duties will include connecting power-supply circuits to radio, radar, steering systems, variable frequency drives, and other electronic equipment.
- The marine electrician will also test electrical characteristics, such as voltage, resistance, and phase angle, in circuits, using voltmeters, ohmmeters, and phase rotation indicators.
- The marine electrician may also construct instrument panels, using hand tools, rulers, dividers, and power drills per specifications.
