Cardinal Point Captains, Inc. is hiring seasonal Deckhands to support vessel operations for the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary, offshore from Galveston, Texas. Deckhands will work aboard the R/V MANTA and other NOAA vessels, assisting with scientific research, monitoring, and outreach. This role is ideal for candidates with marine experience who are comfortable working offshore and supporting a variety of vessel operations and maintenance tasks.

• Competitive wages: $20/hr–$28/hr DOE
• Seasonal, part‑time, on‑call schedule (May–mid‑October, with possible additional hours)

• At least one year of vessel deck experience in offshore marine environments
• Experience with load handling equipment (winches, cranes, A‑Frames, davits)
• Ability to obtain NOAA small boat component course certification within 30 days
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
• Proven punctuality and professionalism
• Ability to work 100 nautical miles offshore and assist others with motion sickness
• Proficiency with scuba dive compressors and NITROX mixes
• Ability to work collegially with scientists and educators
• Ability to perform galley duties at sea
• Willingness to deploy at sea for up to 5 days at a time, with 12‑hour workdays
• Flexibility to adjust to schedule changes due to weather or emergencies
• Current valid driver’s license and First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications
• Non‑smoking vessels
