Anser Charter School is a free, public K–8 charter school located in Garden City, in 1998, Anser has served the community for 27 years, providing a high‑quality education grounded in Expeditionary Learning (EL)—a hands‑on, student‑centered model that connects academics to real‑world experiences, service learning, and strong community partnerships. Anser serves students from diverse backgrounds and is deeply committed to supporting the whole child and whole family.
As the number of low‑income students at Anser has increased, so has the need for coordinated and sustainable family supports. Currently, the school counselor connects families to community resources as needs arise; however, limited capacity makes it challenging to develop long‑term systems that address the root causes of poverty.
- Strengthen supports for students and families through the development of a Community School model.
- Design an internal community needs assessment, tools, and data systems for staff use.
- Help design a Community School strategy by developing internal partnership tracking systems, templates, and sustainability plans.
- Research funding opportunities, support grant writing, and develop volunteer program infrastructure (policies, SOPs, toolkits).
- Create toolkits and standard operating procedures that document processes and best practices for future use by staff.
