Technical Education, This is a full-time, tenured track, 172-day contract position under the direction of the appropriate Division Chair, Dean of Technical Education, and the Vice President for Instruction. The primary assignment is to provide instructional services and learning facilitation for students in Allied Health Department programs. This position will teach coursework approved by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment Coalition of Community Health Workers, American Medical Technologies (AMT), as well as designated GCCC courses in which the instructor is qualified to teach.

Instructor’s primary responsibilities well be teaching at multiple outreach location sites requiring travel to other towns as well, teach classroom work on campus, and online. Instructors will teach lab and clinical experiences using manikin simulation and state of the art training equipment. This position will require on-site visits to assigned clinical and/or practicum facilities to prepare students for industry Registered or Certified credentials.

Instructor must be available to teach Monday through Friday and when required evenings/weekends.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Assist with facilitating the program review process.
  • Assist with maintenance of program accreditation.
  • Assist with state application process and schedule.
  • Maintain contact with local partners and appropriate Kansas credentialing agencies.
  • Respond to the institutional needs (budget, schedules, reporting etc.)
  • Assist with facilitation of Advisory Committee.
  • Assist with ordering instructional supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with maintaining equipment and supplies.
  • Assist with promotion, marketing, and recruitment activities.
  • Maintain communication and contracts with industry clinical sites.
  • Participate in activities related to instruction including.
Curriculum
  • Cooperatively develop, implement, evaluate, and revise courses according to standards/guidelines.
  • Maintain a current syllabus for all courses.
Instruction
  • Plan, provide, coordinate, and evaluate learning experiences for students in the classroom, laboratory, clinical and field.
  • Coordinate clinical and field internship and assignment for preceptors.
  • Maintain scholastic records for students.
  • Serve as advisor/resource to students.
Technical Education Division Faculty
  • Attend and participate in department and division meetings.
  • Keep equipment and teaching aids in proper working condition.
  • Assist in textbooks and instructional medial selection.
  • Recommend request for materials, supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and current inventory of supplies and equipment located in the classroom and laboratory.
  • Wrote and submit information, date, and report as requested.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities or duties which the administration deems necessary within the guidelines and policies as established by the President and the Board of Trustees.
College Faculty
  • Serve on various college committee assignments.
  • Professional Growth and Development:
  • Attend Approved workshops, seminars, and other worthwhile activities to keep current in the field.
  • Membership in professional organizations and professional publication usage is encouraged.
Performance Measurements
  • To foster learning environments which enable student success.
  • To proactively support the work of the department.
  • To proactively support the work of the college through recruiting, service on committees, etc.
Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills Required Experience
  • Hold a current U.S. driver license and be able to independently drive to outreach locations designated in GCCC area and be willing to complete a defensive driving course required by GCCC.
  • Is certified to teach a Community Health Worker Course and has experience as a Community Health Worker.
  • OR at least 3 years of full-time clinical work experience in a healthcare profession in which the scope of practice is commensurate with, or exceeds, the medical assisting scope of practice.
Preferred minimum
  • Associate degree with health care credentials in good standing in health science, or health promotion.
  • Must have supervisor experience or prior experience teaching.
  • Must be willing to become a Certified Community Health Worker Instructor.
  • Must be willing to become an AMT certified instructor if qualified, for Registered Medical Assistant Program.
