Position Overview

Our Industrial Market is expanding with new work in Hyperscale Data Centers and increased projects in Water/Wastewater and Campus/Industrial Energy. We are adding Mid to Senior Electrical/I&C Designers to our KIWE team across the U.S. The role requires at least 3 years of 3‑D modeling of electrical equipment/systems for industrial facilities or large buildings.

Kiewit Engineering Group, Inc. is a full‑service engineering consulting and design firm with expertise across industrial sectors. The Industrial Engineering team includes mechanical, electrical, controls, structural and civil disciplines focused on EPC and design‑build delivery.

Location

This position can be based at any Kiewit office:
Lenexa, KS;
Lone Tree, CO;
Bloomington, MN;
Houston, TX. Relocation assistance is available only for the Lenexa, KS office. Senior Designers (10+ years) are preferred for Bloomington and Houston.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize Revit 3D and Smartplant 3D to design and draft drawings for electrical systems, including wiring, power distribution diagrams, electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, raceway design/sizing, equipment layout, cable management systems, grounding layout, lighting, lightning protection, equipment locations, conduit layout.
  • Apply codes and standards to complete assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Identify scope changes during small projects and produce design changes to stay within budget and schedule.
  • Take initiative to meet or exceed quality and expected outcome requirements for internal and external customers.
  • Perform assigned work efficiently to maximize productivity while complying with company standards to produce quality deliverables.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology and a minimum of 4 years of electrical/I&C design or drafting experience, including 3‑D and 2‑D work; alternatively, high school diploma plus 8 years of related experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced 3‑D modeling skills using REVIT and/or AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Smartplant3D, or Micro Station. Experience with electrical or instrumentation & control design for P&IDs, one‑line diagrams, panel designs, and electrical layouts.
  • Collaborative work across departments, initiating meetings with team members, disciplines, and internal customers for clarity.
  • Support project teams with design support for drawings, specifications, IO lists. Knowledge of NEC code and ANSI/IEEE standards.
  • Manage multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, communicate effectively orally and in writing, and maintain detail orientation and teamwork.
  • Experience working with multi‑disciplined teams and subcontractors for equipment. Preference for design‑for‑construction, Design/Build, or EPC project experience.
  • For senior‑level designers – at least 10 years in 3‑D modeling with REVIT for electrical and/or instrumentation/controls, leading projects and teams, and overseeing budgets and schedules.

Base Compensation: $70,000 – $125,000 (actual compensation may vary based on education, experience, skillset, and/or location).
