Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an LDRP position at a Level 3 trauma acute care hospital, requiring active KS or compact licensure and a minimum of 2 years of LDRP experience.
Responsibilities- Acute care hospital setting with a dedicated LDRP unit featuring 12 LDRP rooms, 1 OR suite for C-sections, and 1 triage bed
- Patient population includes labor and delivery, postpartum, and mother/baby couplet care with an average of approximately 1.5 births per day (50–60/month)
- AWHONN staffing ratio guidelines are followed
- Pitocin drip titration is required
- Fetal monitoring is required; GE and OBIX EFM systems are used
- Epic EMR is used in this position
- Charge nurse typically carries a patient assignment; one surgical tech is available on the unit
- OB/Neonatologist and anesthesia are not in-house 24/7
- 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend required
- Travelers are first to float; floating is required within L&D, postpartum, and mother/baby
- On-call/standby requirement per facility policy
- 13-week contract
- Responsibilities include LDRP nursing care across labor and delivery, postpartum, and mother/baby, including circulating for C-sections and fetal strip interpretation
- Unit orientation consists of 1–2 shifts; clinicians must be on-site in state for the week of orientation even if initial modules are completed remotely
- No holiday coverage requirement
- Professional scrub colors are acceptable (no specific color requirement)
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by a Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates placed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Travelers are expected to secure housing within a commutable distance to meet float zone requirements
- Active KS RN license or valid Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring — pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required
- Experience with couplet care and circulating in the OR required
- Ability to titrate pitocin drips
- A valid driver's license is required for consideration
- 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate; permanent address is verified via driver's license
