American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum) position at a Level III trauma facility in Kansas, requiring at least 2 years of LDRP experience and active ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certifications.
Requirements- Active KS RN license or Compact (NLC) license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of LDRP experience required
- Couplet care experience required
- Ability to circulate in the OR for C‑sections required
- Experience titrating Pitocin drips required
- Current certifications required (no pending accepted): BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
- Epic EMR experience preferred (used on unit)
- A valid driver's license must be provided for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rates
- Acute care hospital setting with a combined L&D/PP/Mother-Baby unit
- 12 LDRP rooms, 1 OR suite for C‑sections, and 1 triage bed
- Averages approximately 1.5 births per day (50–60 per month)
- AWHONN staffing ratio guidelines are followed
- OB/Neonatologist and anesthesia are not in-house 24/7
- Charge nurse typically carries a patient assignment; 1 surgical tech on unit
- Fetal monitoring required using GE and EPIC OBIX systems; no adult telemetry
- EMR:
Epic - 12-hour day shifts
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required between L&D, Postpartum, and Mother-Baby; may also be asked to assist other units as needed
- On‑call is a possibility per policy, though expected no more than 3 times per contract period
- 13-week contract
- Responsibilities include providing full‑scope LDRP nursing care including labor support, delivery, recovery, and postpartum/couplet care, as well as OR circulation for C‑sections
- Clinicians must be on‑site and in‑state for the week of orientation, even if initial orientation modules are completed remotely; unit‑specific orientation is 1–2 shifts
- Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by a Common Spirit or affiliated facility (including CHI and/or Dignity Health) within the past year are not eligible; candidates who worked PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Scrub color: any professional colors
- No holiday coverage requirements
- The interview process involves a clinical team interview; no unit manager interview is required for this position
