Description:
Hiring Process includes candidate interview with clinical team. No unit manager involvement during the interview process. Orientation week requires clinicians to be in state for the full week. Unit has 10 beds with a nurse-patient ratio of 1:2. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CRRT. Common diagnoses and types of patients include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain.
RNs are required to titrate drips for vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, and metabolic medications. Charge nurses take an assignment during shifts. Nurse aids are available on the unit depending on volumes. Clientists are available in-house. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 in the ICU. Equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and ventilators. RNs are required to read their own strips and escalate as needed.
Self-scheduling and block scheduling options are available for shifts. Full and part-time employees are expected to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts in a six-week schedule. Holiday scheduling is also required. There may be standby or call requirements determined by management. Floating may occur within a designated zone, if there is an extreme need. Scrub color is navy blue.
Cancellation policy allows for shifts to be canceled under specific conditions. Charting systems used include EPIC. A BSN is not required for this position. Trauma level for the unit is 3. Care setting is acute.
