What You Will Be Doing
  • Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of a state-of-the-art metallurgical laboratory, ensuring testing equipment and resources are effectively utilized.
  • Evaluate materials through testing, analysis, and research to support new product development, manufacturing processes, and quality initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain material, heat treatment, and surface treatment specifications while collaborating with engineering teams to select optimal materials for various applications.
  • Lead metallurgical investigations, including failure analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation with both internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating material performance, heat treatment processes, supplier capabilities, and value engineering opportunities.
What We Need From You

To be considered for this role, candidates must have the following experience and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of four years of professional experience in ferrous metallurgy.
  • Strong understanding of metallurgical testing methods, material characterization, and heat treatment processes.
  • Experience conducting technical investigations, preparing reports, and collaborating with cross‑functional engineering teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
The ideal candidate will also have any or all of the following preferred experience and skills
  • Experience working with bearing materials or low‑carbon steels.
  • Familiarity with automotive quality management systems, including IATF 16949 and/or ISO 9001.
  • Experience partnering with heat‑treatment suppliers and manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge of supplier qualification, material selection, and continuous improvement methodologies.
