DESCRIPTION:
The Nassau BOCES Department of Special Education is seeking General Special Education Teachers at the Center for Community Adjustment program. Successful candidates must have experience working with students with learning, behavior, and social/emotional needs and possess strong skills in differentiated instruction. In addition, successful candidates must have demonstrated skills in data-informed instruction, Next Generation Learning Standards for Social Studies and New York State Alternate Assessments.
REQUIREMENTS:
* New York State Education Department (NYSED) Certification:
Students with Disabilities (Grades 5-9) and Students with Disabilities (Grades 7-12); or Students with Disabilities (All Grades)
* NYSED Certification:
Social Studies 7-12
* Experience working with a diverse range of student needs
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
* Demonstrated ability in providing small group instruction in academic areas is preferred
* Implement and maintain classroom behavioral strategies and individualized behavior plans that are trauma-informed and therapeutic in approach
* Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and instructional technology
