DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Special Education is seeking a School Psychologist to provide services and social/emotional learning development to students at various Nassau BOCES locations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Conducting psychological re-evaluations
* Developing and monitoring Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
* Delivering individual and group counseling as per student Individualized Education Plan (IEP) mandates
* Participating in crisis interventions and trainings
* Collaborating with a multidisciplinary staff to support student needs
* Conducting parent and district outreach
* Attending annual review meetings and participating in screenings
* Supporting students' social, emotional and behavioral needs
* Maintaining accurate records, counseling logs and Medicaid related documents
REQUIREMENTS:
* New York State Education Department Certification:
School Psychologist
* Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
* Experience with Chairing Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings, 504 meetings, mandated counseling and risk assessments is preferred
* Experience with FBAs and BIPs, as well as working with students with disabilities is preferred
* Two or more years of related experience is preferred
