DESCRIPTION:

The Nassau BOCES Department of Regional Schools and Instructional Programs (RSIP) is seeking a Full-time Leave Replacement Cosmetology Teacher who will have the opportunity to work in one of the most dynamic, state-of-the-art facilities in Nassau County. The teacher must have the ability to?teach?all?students, including those?with?

Individualized Education Plans?(IEP) and 504s. Responsibilities for the position include?but are not limited to:

* Preparing students to work in a wide range of positions within the cosmetology field

* Providing classroom and laboratory instruction

* Delivering instruction on academic and professional skills for job acquisition, retention and advancement

* Emphasizing training in safety, sanitation, hair care, skin care and nail care

* Creating lesson plans and course outlines to prepare students to work in various areas of the cosmetology field

* Preparing students to take the New York State Cosmetology Licensing Exam

* Evaluating each student's progress as part of the record keeping

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* New York State Education Department (NYSED) Certification:
Cosmetology 7-12

* A valid New York State Cosmetology License

* Four or more years of experience in cosmetology

* Excellent oral and written communications and planning skills

* Ability to network with professionals in the cosmetology field

* Experience with salon management/ownership including hiring practices

* Experience working with secondary students is preferred

SALARY:
As per labor contract
