As Chief Financial Officer, you will provide strategic financial leadership as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, guiding financial strategy, sustainability, and stewardship of resources. Partnering closely with the President/CEO, Board of Trustees, and senior leadership, you will strengthen financial operations, ensure sound governance and compliance, and support the organization’s mission through strong nonprofit financial management.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all finance and accounting functions
- Serve on the Executive Leadership Team; partner with the President/CEO and Board on strategy, policy, and organizational performance
- Direct budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, and long-term financial sustainability, including operating and capital budgets
- Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting for executive leadership, the Board, funders, and regulators
- Lead audits, tax filings, and financial compliance in accordance with municipal, state, and federal requirements
- Oversee risk management, internal controls, and insurance programs to safeguard organizational assets
- Manage grants and contracts finance, including proposal budgeting, negotiations, compliance, and reporting
- Oversee revenue cycle management, billing systems, and reimbursements across Medicaid, managed care, and other payors
- Partner with executive leadership on funding strategies, resource development, and stewardship
- Lead, develop, and mentor the Finance team to foster a high-performing, collaborative culture
- Represent the organization with financial institutions, funders, auditors, and regulatory agencies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field; MBA, CPA, or other advanced degree strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience in large, complex organizations; nonprofit human services, healthcare, or social services experience preferred
- Proven management of multi-million-dollar budgets and strong knowledge of nonprofit finance and compliance
- Demonstrated expertise in audits, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls
- Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial audiences
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial/accounting systems

- Ability to work occasional evenings and attend meetings or events outside regular business hours; valid NYS driver’s license required
Compensation
- Salary: $150,000 - $170,000
