Position Title: Kindergarten Instructional Aide
Reports To: Classroom Teacher & School Administration
Employment Type: Full-Time Non Exempt
Pay Range: $20.00 - $20.79/hr.
Location: St. John the Baptist School, Costa Mesa, CA
The Kindergarten Instructional Aide supports the classroom teacher in creating a nurturing, organized, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young students. This role blends instructional support, supervision, and classroom management to ensure each child feels safe, encouraged, and ready to learn. Because all St. John the Baptist Catholic School employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the teacher with daily classroom activities, lessons, and learning centers
- Provide individualized and small-group support to students
- Help maintain a positive, structured, and faith-filled classroom environment
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, transitions, and dismissal
- Prepare instructional materials, organize supplies, and support classroom routines
- Support social-emotional learning through gentle guidance and positive reinforcement
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, staff, and families
- Uphold school policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality standards
- Assist with classroom cleanliness, organization, and setup
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and school events as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Experience working with young children in a school or childcare setting preferred
- Ability to follow teacher direction and collaborate as part of a team
- Warm, patient, and child-centered approach
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to supervise and manage groups of young children safely
- Basic computer literacy (email, simple classroom platforms)
- Completion of required background checks and clearances
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move frequently throughout the day
- Ability to supervise active children indoors and outdoors
- Schedule:
