Join our first-class team to reinvent in-flight experience. In the role of Aftermarket Buyer 2 you'll play a pivotal part on our purchasing team. The Safran growth strategy centers on three imperatives: growing company market share, customer satisfaction and achieving operational excellence.
ResponsibilitiesThe Aftermarket Buyer 2 role is responsible for acquiring goods and services at a competitive price, ensuring that goods are of top quality, and facilitating delivery of goods via issuance and management of a purchase order. The role also analyzes demand and plans supply, ensures efficient execution of requirements and purchasing actions, manages supplier delivery, quality, cost performance and improvement.
- Manages complex supplier accounts, requiring advanced knowledge of commodity, supply base, and program.
- Responds to urgent customer requirements and sustains operational performance.
- Maintains aircraft readiness, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance through agile supply chain coordination and vendor management.
- Act as authorized agent of the company, making financial commitments and managing key supplier relationships to ensure supply chain performance.
- Provides peer review and oversight to junior Purchasing Agents.
- Makes daily purchases and inputs into MRP system based on demand, while analyzing quality, specifications and delivery requirements.
- Ensures just‑in‑time supply aligns with loaded demand to maintain inventory targets.
- Solicits quotations for non‑contracted items and negotiates best price.
- Interfaces with planning and purchasing Demand and Program Managers to flow down schedule or requirement changes to suppliers.
- Reviews purchase orders and follows up on unconfirmed orders, past‑due items, etc.
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or related field, or equivalent experience. - Minimum 3 years of purchasing experience, preferably in the aerospace or aviation industry.
- MRP system experience.
- MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal business communication abilities.
- Understanding of engineering principles and ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Self‑starter who drives improvement, meets timeliness and objectives.
- Problem‑solving skills, teamwork, and collaborative action.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Excel functions (VLOOKUP, etc.) and PowerPoint for reporting.
- Ability to coordinate with operations and logistics teams to source materials on time.
- Ability to monitor and report on purchasing KPIs and meet targets.
- Ability to adjust planning orders to correct discrepancies.
- Experience applying supply‑chain expertise to contemporary environments.
- Strong negotiation, influence, and decision‑making skills.
- Customer‑service orientation.
- Certified Procurement Professional (CPP).
- Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
- Previous experience supporting manufacturing, preferably aerospace.
- Ability to read and analyze engineering prints.
