Job Description QUALITY ENGINEER II
Yearly Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000
SUMMARYPrimary responsibility of a Quality Engineer II is to ensure quality standards are established, achieved and maintained to meet the requirements for the Company’s products and processes. This includes leading cross‑functional efforts to determine process and product capabilities, improving control and inspection plans, driving root cause analysis, implementing statistical methods, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, scrap, and customer complaints.
The Quality Engineer II also serves as a key interface with customers and suppliers to proactively identify and resolve quality risks across the product lifecycle.
- Lead and support internal and external audits in accordance with published schedules and specifications
- Lead and follow up on internal and customer corrective actions to ensure timely and effective closure
- Review engineering drawings for accuracy and proper incorporation into quality plans
- Initiate and revise quality procedures and work instructions to support process improvements
- Support and lead customer source inspection activities
- Initiate and review quality plans such as First Article Inspection Reports and PPAP documentation
- Lead root cause corrective actions and complete 8D investigations for recurring or high‑impact issues
- Participate in FMEA activities to identify and mitigate process and product risks
- Support MRB activities and drive reduction of rejections and nonconforming material
- Handle and support resolution of Notices of Escape and customer‑related quality issues
- Drive scrap reduction and continuous improvement initiatives using data analysis
- Implement and support SPC methods to monitor and improve process performance
- Analyze process capability and recommend improvements to reduce variation
- Improve inspection techniques and support standardization of inspection methods
- Support training and development of inspectors to improve consistency and effectiveness
- Assist with implementation of automated inspection methods to reduce manual measurement
- Work cross‑functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain to resolve quality issues
- Advise leadership of significant quality concerns or trends
- Perform QMS and policy awareness training as needed
- Follow all HSE procedures and report any nonconformance
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, and environmental performance
- Issue and track Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) and monitor closure for effectiveness and timeliness
- Perform or participate in supplier audits and process reviews to assess quality system compliance and manufacturing capability
- Evaluate incoming material nonconformances, disposition supplier‑related rejections, and communicate findings to the supply chain team
- Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities for new program launches, including development of Control Plans, FMEAs, and inspection strategies aligned to each program phase
- Develop, maintain, and present quality performance metrics for assigned product lines or processes, including scrap rate, first pass yield, COPQ, and corrective action closure rate
- Analyze trends in quality data and provide actionable reporting to manufacturing and quality leadership on a regular cadence
- Other duties as assigned.
