Controller Position

We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of a construction-focused business in Gardena, California. This role is responsible for overseeing core financial reporting, strengthening operational controls, and providing insight that supports project performance and company growth. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, deep knowledge of construction accounting, and the ability to guide the full back-office finance function with accuracy and accountability.

Responsibilities:

• Direct the day-to-day accounting function, ensuring financial activities are completed accurately, on time, and in alignment with business objectives.
• Oversee construction-specific accounting processes, including job cost tracking, work-in-progress reporting, and recognition of project-related revenue.
• Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements, providing clear analysis of performance, trends, and areas requiring attention.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting activities to support planning, cash management, and strategic decision-making across construction projects.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and review of bank reconciliations.
• Coordinate audit preparation and support external reporting requirements while maintaining strong internal financial controls.
• Supervise tax-related financial activities, including the preparation and review of corporate tax return information.
• Administer insurance compliance and maintain effective relationships with banking partners and other external financial stakeholders.
• Identify financial risks, respond to operational business needs, and recommend opportunities to improve profitability and project results.
