Senior Civil Engineer
Description:
This position is considered a management level classification. Under general direction, performs advanced and complex professional civil engineering work and serves in a technical and administrative leadership capacity within the Engineering Division. Plans, organizes, manages, and coordinates the design, review, permitting, construction, and delivery of public works, capital improvement, utility, and private development projects. Serves as project manager for major engineering and infrastructure initiatives;
oversees consultant and construction contracts; develops and administers project budgets; prepares technical and administrative reports; and secures and administers grant and other funding opportunities. Provides technical guidance and direction to professional, technical, and support staff and represents the City before public agencies, commissions, City Council, developers, contractors, and the public.
Senior Civil Engineer:
Education:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
Experience:
Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional civil engineering experience involving the design, review, and construction of public works or capital improvement projects. Experience in a municipal environment and experience providing technical direction or project management are highly desirable. License Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California is required. Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record is required.
Civil Engineer:
Education and Experience A Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in Civil Engineering or a related field with a Degree in Civil Engineering or related field AND five (5) years of experience in the design and construction of public works projects or any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
License Registration as a Civil Engineer with the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is required. Must have and maintain a valid California C Driver's License.
