JobPurpose
The Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of machinery and fixtures within the plant at the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor. Maintenance will be done in both a preventative and repair format. Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation.
Duties and Responsibilities- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements (both planned and unplanned) on production, packaging, processing equipment, conveyors, boilers, refrigeration, hydraulic, pneumatic, wrapping machines, natural gas fired ovens batching and scaling systems electrical, and PLC.
- Maintain Preventative maintenance schedules and validate work completion on general facility maintenance
- Acts as the “first responder” when a line stops producing and assures that the appropriate mechanical and/or electrical help is on site to correct any problems quickly.
- Review and complete maintenance work order activities; complete daily paperwork documentation
- Support the facility’s GMP, food safety and food quality programs to assure compliance and achieve desired results.
- Examine parts for defects, including breakage or excessive wear; disassemble and reassemble machinery or equipment to inspect, test, remove, repair and maintain parts; repair and/or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment
- Observe, analyze results and test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using electrical diagrams, voltmeters or other testing devices; examine objects, systems or facilities and analyze information to determine needed repairs; operate newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs; ensures production equipment is ready
- Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery
- Record parts or materials used and request new parts or materials with the Maintenance Supervisor
- Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational and safety performance standards.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Troubleshoots, repairs, fabricates, and/or installs electronic systems, complex gauges, instrumentation repairs, and new parts including mechanical and electronic interfaces
- Operates general machinery and tools including saws, drills, power tools, scissor lifts, forklifts, etc.
- Completes duties in accordance with quality assurance, GMPs, safety and other company programs and procedures, and in compliance with government code and regulations.
- Maintains clean, organized and safe work area, including wipe and washing equipment and tools, sweeping and mopping floors, and trash removal.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required
- High School Diploma, Trade School Certification or similar diploma.
- 3+ Years industrial maintenance mechanic experience with experience from a food or beverage manufacturing production plant.
- Experience working with industrial refrigeration and other heavy industrial equipment such as forklifts and aero lifts.
- Working knowledge of industrial refrigeration and HVAC systems.
- Broad knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Troubleshoot / repair pumps, valves, and packaging equipment.
- Electrical background up to 480V industrial 3-phase, & basic PC/software skills.

- Walking, standing, and engaging in movement throughout the day
- Ability to work in hot and cold environments.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, to work in confined areas, to lift 50 lbs.
Due to a large variety of job duties (both routine and non-routine), certain duties also may involve, a variety of physical activities including bending, lifting, stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms above shoulders and head, standing, working in enclosed areas, climbing stairs or ladders, and operating heavy machinery. The noise level in the work environment can vary but noise is usually low to moderate.
