CNC Machinist 1st Shift Temp

CNC Machinist. This position is responsible for setting up and operating the CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) multi-axis machines, vertical/gantry/horizontal rotary (4th) axis mills, CC lathes/routers and/or 5 axis core mills.

• Fully qualified in the operation of 3 and 4 axis CNC milling machines, manual machining/honing/grinding equipment, for production/fabrication of precision machine parts
• Set up machines, adjust, verify part conformity to blue print/specification and operate machines to perform a series of progressive machining operations to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications
• Independently select proper tools for setup and operation of multi-axis CNC equipment and various manual/automatic machines
• When qualified by experience, operate 4th axis horizontal/gantry milling equipment and may operate 5 axis core mills with guidance
• When qualified by experience, operate 5 axis core mills and may operate 4-axis horizontals or CNC lathes with guidance
• Set up all tools, perform related bench work and verify part conformity using precision measuring equipment
• Set up machines with furnished jigs and fixtures to machine production parts
• May operate multiple machines
• Perform SPC (Statistical Process Control) charting as required
• Assist area leads in process debug, providing potential solutions to common machining problems
• Provide input to area lead/supervisor regarding processes not capable for quality or production effectiveness
• Read/follow shop orders and planning instructions, maintain material traceability, and make written entries into shop orders as required
• Record entries into Machine Event Logs and Cin Com transaction for jobs worked/completed
• Responsible for proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in the work area
• Perform other duties as assigned, including leading projects and participating in project committees

• Efficient use of CNC multi-axis machines, CNC lathes/routers and/or 5 axis core mills
• Demonstrated use of manual machining/honing/grinding equipment
• Ability to independently select proper tools for setup and operation of multi-axis CNC equipment and various machines
• Proficient ability to read and understand blueprints/specifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Base Compensation: USD 21.74 - 25.78 Paid Hourly
