Responsibilities

  • The Senior CNC Programmer/Machinist will independently program, set up, prove out, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC milling and turning operations while working closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production to ensure efficient, high-quality manufacturing
  • Develop and write CNC programs for milling machines, lathes, and other CNC equipment using CAM software such as Mastercam or CATIA
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to determine machining requirements
  • Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify part dimensions
  • Adjust programs as necessary to optimize machining processes for efficiency and quality
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Troubleshoot machining issues related to tooling, geometry, or machine operation
  • Maintain detailed documentation of programs, setups, and process parameters for quality control purposes

Qualifications

  • Minimum ten (10) years of CNC programming and machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Production to improve manufacturability and efficiency
  • Strong knowledge of CAD software including AutoCAD, Solid Works, and CATIA for designing parts and fixtures
  • Expertise in CAM programming for toolpath generation on CNC milling machines and CNC lathes
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for precise measurement and quality assurance
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately
  • Mechanical knowledge related to tooling selection, setup, and maintenance
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes including machining techniques, tooling selection, and fixture design
  • Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments such as bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
  • Strong math skills including geometry calculations necessary for accurate programming
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles to improve process flow and reduce waste
