Background

You will be part of a machine shop team that supports various groups in design, fabrication, and maintenance, including inventory management of parts and supplies.

As a member of this team, you will support R&D projects utilizing the machine shop and assist in the maintenance of equipment and tools.

General Duties and Scope of Work Machine Shop

Fabricate specialty fixtures, jigs, etc. using steel stock, aluminum stock, 80/20, etc.

Perform periodic preventative maintenance and repairs on machine shop equipment.

Maintain shop safety, organization, cleanliness, and oversight.

Support training and development for less experienced staff.

Support in creating solutions for project needs.

Inventory Management

Manage procurement, organization, and monitoring of standard shop supplies (nuts, bolts, washers, shop chemicals, etc.) through established suppliers such as McMaster‑Carr and Grainger.

Monitor shop inventory levels through a Kanban system or other established methods.

Research and procure miscellaneous shop supplies, stock inventory, and manage invoices.

Maintain good inventory organization, cleanliness, and oversight.

Requirements Skills and Experience

Minimum 10‑year experience in a fabrication shop environment using various machine shop equipment.
Proficiency in MIG and TIG for both steel and aluminum.
Working‑level experience with CNC operations is a plus.
CAD experience is a plus.
Automotive background (light duty and/or heavy‑duty vehicle experience) is a plus.
The ideal candidate would be prepared to display their skill sets through photos, videos, or other materials of current/previous projects.
