What will you be doing:The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible and accountable for the application of the nursing process, supervision of clinical practice, research involvement, consultative services, inter- and intradepartmental liaison, education, leadership, and patient care management across the health care continuum from preventative to acute care through discharge. A Nurse Practitioner’s practice incorporates both independent decision‑making abilities and collaboration with the board‑certified/eligible physician to provide expert care to the patients.
- Oversee care for patients in the Cardiac Surgery ICU ranging from CABG and valve replacement/repairs to implantable VADs, Heart and Lung transplants, ECMO, aortic dissections, and aneurysm repairs
- Perform bedside procedures within the scope of service, write progress notes, participate in daily rounds, write orders, dictate discharge notes, and participate in hospital‑wide quality improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care
- One (1) plus year of experience as Nurse Practitioner, preferably in cardiothoracic surgery
- Two (2) plus years of acute care nursing experience
- Two (2) plus years of experience managing cardiothoracic surgery patients or cardiac patients preferred
- ICU experience required
- Working knowledge of managing device patients preferred
- Master of Nursing Degree
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program approved by the California Board of Registered Nurses
- Current State of California Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License
- National Certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner
- Current DEA license and Furnishing Number or eligibility to obtain
- Current ACLS certification required
