Maintenance Mechanic II

Under general supervision, keeps plant machinery and equipment in good repair. Maintains, analyzes and corrects problems of standard machinery as required.

• Make repairs, replacements, adjustments, inspections, troubleshoot, and conduct preventative maintenance on all mechanical equipment.
• Perform general mechanical maintenance on various equipment such as pumps, cranes, hoists, hydraulic systems, vacuum pumps, and basic vehicle repairs.
• Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts and examine the surface of parts to detect imperfections.
• Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Operate all types of conventional power tools.
• Lubricate, clean, paint.
• Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• Operate forklift, aerial boom lifts, scissors lifts, and small trucks.
• Operate company vehicle as needed to transport parts, equipment, materials, and supplies between company facilities and vendor locations to support maintenance and production activities.
• Repair electrical equipment, run conduit.
• Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements; start devices to test their performance.
• Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Perform arc, gas, TIG/MIG welding.
• Install new equipment.
• Lay out jobs and comply with bill of material.
• Assist in training new employees and trainees.

• Demonstrates an advanced knowledge of mechanical and facilities repair and maintenance.
• Ability to read, interpret, and verbally communicate documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Read and understand complicated blueprints and specifications.
• Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Work independently and follow detailed written instructions.
• Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Install, maintain, diagnose and correct problems on complicated machinery and specialized plant equipment such as milling machine, hot and stretch presses, automated machine tools, radial drill presses, etc.
• Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Supply basic standard tools for this trade.
• Use Microsoft Software such as email and search the internet for parts and repair methods.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a relevant trade school program or vocational training preferred.
• Ten years’ experience in the machine tool field.
• Experience in hydraulics, ability to read schematics, hydraulic and electrical.
• Five years of successful related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Valid and unrestricted driver's license with the ability to meet company driving and vehicle insurance policy.

Base Compensation: USD 29.00 - 33.50 Paid Hourly
