Position: Special Education Teacher – Literacy Focus

Location: Gardiner Area High School

Date Position Available:  School Year

Qualifications: Special Education (282) Certification and current CHRC Authorization through the State of Maine Department of Education.

Description: MSAD 11 is seeking an exceptional special educator with a strong background in executive functioning and/or literacy to provide direct instruction in reading, writing, and/or executive functioning to students. If you are dedicated, energetic, and enthusiastic professional ready to make a real impact we want you!

The Ideal Candidate Will
  • Plan for and implement innovative and inclusive lesson plans, incorporating research-based strategies and accommodations to support diverse learners.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
  • Utilize ongoing assessment data to monitor student progress, identify areas for growth, and adjust instruction, accordingly, ensuring that all students make continuous gains.
  • Demonstrate a passion for education and a commitment to ensuring that all students have equitable access to high quality instruction.
  • Have a strong knowledge of best practices in special education, including differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning, and the use of assistive technology.
  • Possess strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues alike.
  • Be able to write goals, conduct progress monitoring, and complete progress reporting: all other IEP paperwork is conducted by an individual dedicated to paperwork.
