United Rentals is a leading equipment rental provider offering the opportunity to work as a Fleet Technician I, responsible for maintenance and repair of mobile storage rental fleet equipment, including containers, mobile offices, and modular buildings.
Responsibilities- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of Mobile Storage quality standards and perform basic maintenance and repairs, including flooring, tiles, roofs, walls, frames, doors, leaks, caulking, windows, screens, painting, filters/dampers, and replacing skins and trim.
- Remove and install UR decals and equipment numbers, hook mobile offices to power sources, check tire pressure and lugs, and conduct routine maintenance tasks such as washing and preparing trailers.
- Travel to customer sites to set up office trailers and assist CDL A drivers when needed.
- Complete all assignments on time and within budget, documenting work orders accurately.
- Follow manufacturer and regulatory specifications for equipment modifications and maintain equipment in compliance with building codes.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of the shop and yard, following 5S guidelines: keep tools, supplies, and VAPs in a secure place, keep the yard free of debris, and advise supervisors of supply needs.
- Complete inbound and outbound equipment inspections, process rental flow documents, and perform forklift operations.
- Safely install and uninstall Value‑Added Products (VAPs) according to reservation requirements and show fleet to customers when requested.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
- Basic verbal and written communication skills.
- Construction, maintenance, or mechanical experience preferred.
- General mechanical aptitude and knowledge of tools.
- Strong attention to detail and time‑management skills.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions and checklists.
- Capability to utilize required information technology and record time and materials accurately.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment, tools, and manufacturer warranty processes.
- Willingness to learn and follow standard procedures; trade skill training preferred or equivalent experience.
- Safety awareness and willingness to perform safety‑sensitive tasks in line with company policies.
