GHR Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing assignment in Gardner, Massachusetts.
Job Details- Location: Gardner, Massachusetts (Zip 01440)
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
- Hours per Week: 36 (36 hours per week)
- Shift: 8‑hour rotating shifts (Day/Evening), 3 shifts per week; on‑call per rotation on weeknights, weekends, and holidays
- Start Date: April 23, 2026
- Employment Type: Travel, On‑Site
- Pay Range: $1,910 - $2,010 weekly (competitive travel nursing pay)
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Minimum 1 year of acute care nursing experience required; OR/perioperative, SDC, PAT, or endoscopy experience preferred
- Current Massachusetts RN license required
- Current ACLS and PALS certifications required
- IV certification preferred; proficiency in peripheral IV insertion required
- Strong nursing assessment skills, patient safety focus, and ability to work in a fast‑paced surgical environment
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions and patient care goals for pre‑op, intra‑op, and post‑op patients
- Provide patient care based on standards of practice, protocols, and established policies for surgical patients
- Deliver patient and family teaching based on identified needs and readiness to learn (pre‑op and post‑op education)
- Collaborate in discharge planning and coordinate resources for day surgery and inpatient surgical patients
- Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by others while promoting a safe operating room environment
- Prioritize patient care, respond to perioperative emergencies, and assist with crisis interventions when needed
- Document all pertinent data, interventions, and patient responses accurately and in a timely manner
- Provide thorough handoff reports to ensure continuity of care between pre‑op, OR, PACU, and inpatient teams
- Promote learning for colleagues and self through preceptorship, continuing education, and professional development
- Identify risks to patient safety and opportunities to reduce medical errors in the perioperative setting
- Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy as indicated for surgical patients
- Assess and manage patient pain levels, documenting effectiveness and response to interventions
- Perform pre‑admission testing and coordinate ancillary testing for day surgery patients (PAT/SDC coordination)
- Review pre‑operative orders, verify completeness of preoperative charts and paperwork, and consult with surgeons/anesthesiologists as needed
- Provide emotional support to patients undergoing surgery and initiate post‑operative follow‑up, including phone calls to SDC patients
