Landscape laborer

Job Summary

Landscape laborer (full‑time temporary) 7‑month assignment (4/1/2026 – 12/9/2026) for Curby’s Lawn & Garden at 14835 S Gardner Rd, Gardner, KS 66030. Position pays $20.15 per hour ($30.23 overtime). 40 hours per week, 08:00 am – 04:30 pm Mon‑Fri with extended daily hours and weekends when necessary. This role is subject to a concurrent H‑2B labor certification application.

• Landscape or maintain grounds of property using hand or power tools or equipment.
• Perform tasks without close supervision, including sod laying, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking.
• Assist with installation of mortarless segmental concrete masonry wall units and sprinklers.
• Exercise independent judgment; may be asked to demonstrate tasks to other employees.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

• 3 months of experience required; no formal education required.

• Base rate: $20.15 per hour; overtime $30.23 per hour (time and a half for hours over 40 each week, though overtime is not guaranteed). Pay period is weekly on Friday.
• Potential for raise/bonus at employer’s discretion; higher pay may be possible based on experience and performance.
• Employer pays pre‑employment, post‑employment and post‑accident drug tests.
• Employer provides transportation from a central location to and from job sites. Multiple locations in Kansas (Johnson, Miami, Douglas, Wyandotte) and Missouri (Clay, Jackson).
• Returned transportation and daily subsistence are paid or provided if employee completes the employment period or is dismissed early by the employer.
• Employer will reimburse H‑2B worker in the first work week for visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related state‑ or county‑mandated fees.

• Shared housing available only to seasonal full‑time employees; not offered to non‑employees.
• Housing rent (utilities included) cost is $56.25 per week and may be deducted from wages if employee voluntarily elects to live there.
• Employer may deduct reasonable housing cost based on number of occupants for workers who elect to live in employer‑offered housing, but will not deduct to below the FLSA minimum wage.

• Inbound travel costs for eligible workers reimbursed at no greater than 50% of the work period or with the first paycheck if applicable, based on actual cost and not to exceed economical/common commercial carrier rates.
• Workers may arrange their own inbound transportation, assuming liability and holding the employer harmless for any damages.
• Subsistence reimbursements based on rates in the Federal Register (currently $16.28 per day minimum, $68 per day maximum for workers with receipts).

• All deductions required by law, cash advances and repayment of loans or over‑payment of wages, payment for articles voluntarily purchased, recovery of loss to employer due to the worker’s damage (beyond normal wear and tear) or loss of equipment if responsibility is proven, and any other authorized deductions.
• No deduction not required by law will bring earnings below the statutory minimum wage.
