Location:

Pay or shift range: $140,000 to $167,500 USD. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job‑related reasons.

Description

The Site Dental Director provides clinical oversight to the direct services and direct care staff regarding clinical policies and procedures. The Director provides direct supervision to Mid‑level Practitioner and Residents, serves as a mentor and provides clinical support to members of the Dental Team. The Director provides diagnosis and treatment to patients in a manner consistent with the Dental license, specialty, and level of experience.

This position may oversee the Dental Residency program.

Essential Duties and Major Responsibilities DENTIST
  • Provide direct service to patients
  • Ensure that DPH, OSHA and Dental Association regulations are strictly followed

  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of dental care
  • Commitment to providing dental care to families in a medically under‑served community
  • Willingness to be flexible in the development of new methods of dental services delivery
  • Ability to deal with sensitive information in a highly confidential manner
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors, co‑workers, healthcare professionals, funders, and other regulatory agencies
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards
  • Awareness of resources available within the health center to accommodate the needs of patients
  • Provide and manage direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for a specified patient population
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed conditions
  • Refer patients to specialists and relevant patient care components as appropriate
  • Direct and coordinate the patient care activities
  • Attend required meetings
  • Work closely with Director of Dental Operations
  • Responsible for training and orientation of all Dentists and Hygienists
  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement
  • Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals in area of expertise
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Management Team
  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment of the health center mission
  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the established CHC Values and Standards
  • Other job‑related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • DDS or DMD from an accredited Dental School
  • For Limited Licensed candidates: minimum of 2 years AEGD or GPR successfully completed residency program; licensed in Massachusetts to practice Dentistry
  • Minimum of three years professional experience
  • Public Health experience preferred
  • CPR certified or equivalent
  • Physical requirements:

    near visual acuity to observe changes in health/illness status of patients
  • Manual skills: good eye and hand coordination combined with finger dexterity for administration of injections, treatments, etc.

Supervision Exercised: Dentist, Dental Assistants and Residents

Physical Requirements: The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without a reasonable accommodation. The environment is a normal office environment of a busy Community Health Center. While performing duties, the employee is regularly exposed to saliva and blood borne pathogens, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, risk of radiation, and moderate to high noise levels when using mechanical handpieces.

Usual working environment in an outpatient primary care office setting. Exposure to blood products, body fluids, cleaning solutions, and medications.
