Nutrition Aide

Overview

Regular Part Time position based in Gardner, MA. Making Opportunity Count (MOC) delivers services to empower families to achieve economic security, including childcare, education, workforce development, nutrition, health, and housing support.

Department: 7 – Childcare and Headstart

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Health Specialist

Pay Range: $19.91 to $34.81 per hour (SEIU Non-Teacher Pay Scale 2024)

• Prepare meals in accordance with CACFP menu guidelines and assist with cleanup after meals.
• Handle food safely according to Health Care Policy and maintain proper handwashing procedures.
• Assist in preparing breakfasts and meals in accordance with posted menus; participate in meals with children where appropriate.
• Check and record food temperatures on arrival and follow re-heating procedures for temperatures below 140°F.
• Record food and refrigerator/freezer temperatures on Food Temperature Logs.
• Prepare food for serving (wash fruits/vegetables, cut into child-size portions).
• Prepare formula for infants attending Early Head Start and store per CACFP Guidelines.
• Follow CACFP Meal Pattern guidelines for meal components and serving sizes.
• Follow Food Safety and Leftover procedures; manage leftovers and distribution to families as required.
• Adhere to proper dishwashing procedures as per site facilities (three-bay sink or commercial dishwasher).
• Participate in CACFP and other training as requested.
• Maintain working knowledge of MOC policies, Head Start/Early Head Start, EEC licensing regulations; follow the Child Abuse and Neglect Policy.
• Check and respond to Agency email regularly.

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Access to reliable transportation
• Job site/assignments may change based upon program needs
• Must have a suitable Background Record Check (BRC)
• Fulfillment of health and safety requirements (staff physical every 2 years, evidence of Mantoux and MMR test, OSHA, First aid and CPR)
• Must be in good physical and mental health and able to lift and carry children and/or related equipment; able to bend, squat, kneel and climb stairs

A salary within the range of $19.91 to $34.81 per hour will be provided to the successful candidate meeting minimum requirements, consistent with MOC compensation philosophy. Employees in this role are placed on the SEIU Non-Teacher Payscale. The exact placement will be determined based on factors consistent with MOC’s compensation framework.
